Jim Varney Scholarship

For entering freshmen from Kentucky or Tennessee with an interest in acting and/or drama and demonstrable financial need, to cover out-of-state tuition, fees, books, living expenses and incidentals for each scholar for the duration of their four years of study at UCLA, the Jim Varney Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 to provide scholarship support to UCLA undergraduates. Eligible applicants will pursue a degree in the UCLA College of Letters and Science (https://admission.ucla.edu/apply/majors#The_College) and be able to demonstrate financial need according to the standards of the UCLA Financial Aid and Scholarships office.

  3. Describe your interest and involvement in the performing arts to date. Explain how you plan to achieve academic excellence while pursuing these artistic endeavors and how attending UCLA will help you to accomplish your goals.

  5. Please upload a current resume that focuses on your background in acting and drama and/or the performing arts.
  6. Please write a 100-150 word bio that focuses on your interests in acting and/or drama and the performing arts in general and includes a brief statement of current career goals.
  7. LETTER OF REFERENCE: Please provide the name and e-mail of an individual (not a peer or family member) who will provide a letter of reference, preferably one that will speak to your interest in acting and/or drama, and/or performing arts in general. Your recommender will automatically receive a link prompting them to upload the recommendation via this portal. It is critical that the recommender meet the deadline or the portal will close and your application will be considered incomplete.
